FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
ARCHIVE
December 2007 to February 2008
7th February 2008: I've heard a little more from Fr John Kennedy in recent days. He is still handling the mountain life very well. He is coming into the last three months of his time of discernment. You will remember that Fr John has a year to test his call to the life of a member of the Missionary of Charity Fathers. I am sure he would be most grateful for your prayers in this important time for him. You can see the photos of his mountain life here.

30th January 2008: Yesterday we celebrated the Commencement Mass with the teachers in our three Parish schools. You can read my homily from the Mass here.

19th January 2008: Sr Kathryn returning: After a holiday with her family, our favourite Josephite Sister is due back by the end of the month.

1st January 2008: HAPPY NEW YEAR. I am very grateful to Fr Tom Chapman who is looking after the parish for this week and next week to give me a little break. I didn't have a chance to tell you ahead of time because Fr Tom's offer was unexpected. It's the first chance I've had since Fr John Kenndy left the parish in April - apart from my operation and recuperation in October, which, of course, was not a break. I'll see you on Sunday week. May God bless you and yours in this Year of Our Lord 2008.

11th December 2007: December is a very busy month. Along with Advent and our Christmas preparation, we have the end of the school year approaching, and many other end of year events. I am truly grateful for your patience and understanding with me at the moment, as I'm finding the going a bit hectic. It's not easy being the only priest in such a large and growing parish. Thanks for your understanding, support and, above all, your prayers.

By the way, my aunt is doing quite well at present, following her recent serious illness. She and I are really grateful for your prayers.

20th November 2007: The Liturgy is central to our faith - and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to our understanding of, and celebration of the Liturgy. Have a look at this very interesting article from the 'Catholic Weekly' on the central part of the Mass.

10th November 2007: I'm back. I would like to say a sincere thank you to those who sent me best wishes during my convalescence. I am back for Reconciliation today and for the weekend Masses. Please be patient with me for the next few weeks, as I'm still fairly weak. It will be wonderful to see you all again. Thanks to all who have helped out during my absence. Special thanks go to Sr Kathryn, who coordinated things.

4th October 2007: As I will be on sick leave fromKathryn.jpg Monday 8th October for a month, this website will not be updated as often as usual. I look forward to being back with you soon. In the meantime, the priests and deacons from Lismore will be looking after our sacramental celebrations. Sister Kathryn Sweeney R.S.J. will be on duty here in the parish.

1st September 2007: Thanks to the many people who are praying for my very dear aunt who is critically ill. She has shown some improvement, but is still in need of your prayers. Thank you very much on behalf of my whole family.
