22nd August 2010: Father John Kennedy's mother has been in poor health for some time. She is now seriously ill and is not expected to live for much longer. Fr John would be very grateful for everyone's prayers for a blessed and happy death.

20th August 2010: PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTION: Returning Officer Pip Kidd announced today that as there were only two nominations for two positions on the PPC, those two candidates are declared elected. Congratulations to those candidates: Clare Lannan and Adam Sullivan. Clare is new to the council and Adam will be in his second term.

12th August 2010: Shelwin Fernandez and Roland Agrisola will be ordaine d as deacons for our diocese on 30th November at St Carthage's Cathedral, Lismore. Shelwin is well known in our two parishes from many visits. Let us pray for him and for Roland as they prepare for their ordination.

10th August 2010: The clergy of the northern region (Richmond & Tweed ) honoured Fr John Kelly on his Golden Jubilee of ordination at their quarterly meeting. A spcecial guest at the jubilee lunch was Emeritus Bishop of Lismore, Bishop John Satterthwaite. These days, Bishop John lives in Port Macquarie and helps with pastoral duties in that parish.

3rd August 2010: Parish Pastoral Council Constitution: Whoops! We are currently preparing for the coming PPC election on the last weekend in August. Last weekend our intention was to provide you with a copy of the constitution of the PPC. Unfortunately we gave you a very early draft of that document - dated back in 2005. We are sorry for any confusion. The official constitution - which has been in force since the current council began in 2006 is available here. We will also distribute it on buff coloured paper in the bulletin this coming weekend.

31st July 2010: Rev Father Peter Wood was ordained a priest on the e vening of 30th July in St Carthage's Cathedral Lismore. Fr Peter grew up in Lismore and attended St Carthage's Primary School and St John's College Woodlawn. He will return to the seminary until the end of the year, and then he will be appointed to a parish in the Lismore Diocese. We were very lucky to have him here for a parish placement a few years ago.
